Can Pasta Make You Fat?

    Depends on what kind of pasta and how much you eat obviously.. I think it could make you fat if you eat too much of it. Even though most of it is composed of water...

    It could if that was all you ate. You need to have a balanced diet and eat well. If you love pasta have it but go for it in moderation and skip the heavy fatty sauces.

    Pasta is like rice. If you eat more than just a moderation, you might gain weight especially if you put a lot of sauce in it.

    Pasta is a carb. When you eat a lot of heavy carbohydrates you can put on weight really easily. Most people do not know that a serving of pasta is only a half a cup. It is very easy to over eat when it comes to pasta.

    Moderation is the best advice here. I would also recommend to look for whole wheat pasta, they do have more nutrition than the regular pasta.

    Also, remember not to over cook pasta. Cook only until tender firm or al-dente. As this keeps the GI (glycemic index) lower. Over cooking will raise it.

    Agree with the above, it's not so much the pasta that makes you fat but the type of sauce and the amount. You will put on more weight eating carbonara than light pesto.
