I don't know how many others here may remember Christopher Cross, but it seems to me that his timing didn't work very well with the rise of MTV. He had some Grammy success, but right around the time that music videos were becoming very important, and his look was probably not what the record company executives were looking for. And I think his onstage performance was kind of subdued.
