I have mine on it's stand but I have seen them attached to the wall and you can just hide the cables by using a cable cover (see photo below) which you can get from your local DIY store. You can also paint the cover to the colour of your wall which makes them blend in a bit more.
The after picture is a huge improvement if you ask me. It just looks cleaner and nicer and does not look as tacky.
We have ours on the wall and I love it. We have the wires hidden, it looks really nice and out of the way. Works well in our small home.
